A huge thank-you to Kate Markham’s original design of our new logo!
Funding update ; £100 pledges from Broad Haven Baptist Church and £200 from Londis (5p bag charges) ….we are nearly at the £5000 mark !! …And £100 in cash today..
Karen Griffiths of Stay in The Havens approached the owners of the holiday cottages they manage for donations to the boardwalk. An absolutely massive thank you goes out to all the cottage owners, who have, up to now, donated an amazing £2100. More is also on it’s way!!!
23 volunteers – they came, they saw, they conquered – the weeds, the overgrown trees, the moss, the rotten boards, bannisters and uprights! They enjoyed good company, good laughs, coffee, home made chocolates cakes & cookies. IT was a the most fantastic effort and the boardwalk looks superb. It is still a bit slippy though, there is a ‘film’ thats developed on some of the boards as they’ve been under the trees for so long and prevented from drying out
Boardwalk Flyer
We secured Public Liability Insurance today with Tennyson, who specialise is such things. The cost of £132 has been paid by Les & Linda Reohorn, [so that can be a donation to the fund!] and we have the required documentation. Cover is for 1 full year , for events up to 100 people and Cover is up to £5 million – so that should satisfy! This means that all volunteers are covered by insurance whilst they work on the boardwalk.
Karen Riggs has opened a bank account with LLoyds, people will still be able pay in at the Post Office [Londis] Account will be ‘live’ in about 2 weeks, so in the meantime, many thanks to the Londis who are going to facilitate a ‘Drop Box’ on the counter so people can post their cheques safely into that – to be banked into the account as soon as it’s live Donation Cheques should be made payable to “Support The Boardwalk”
County & Community Councillor Peter Morgan has telephoned me to advise that it looks as if we are eligible to apply for a SITA Community Grant At first glance , it looks as though we are in a eligible Funding Zone and the next applications have to be in by 21st of July ! A Grant of up to £60k can be granted so long as we have clean [non grant] matchfunding money of 11% – so we are not
Volunteers who help with the boardwalk repairs will be paid in chocolate cake (and the satisfaction of doing something worthwhile) Thanks to Jodie for the cake! Karen Riggs has made a cake too.
