Even more great news …Another £500 donation received from a generous local benefactor – that boardwalk is more loved than chocolate!
The £140 of timber has arrived and Scott & Natalia Bailey of Ratford Farm Eggs have generously match funded the cost so we have almost £300 of timber to use on Saturday
The most fantastic news – I wrote on behalf of the group to Raymond Bros. Who own the land. I have just received a reply from Roger Raymond. They have given their full support & want to donate £2000.00 !!!!!!! This is superb news- they also have lots if ideas and are keen to meet up …..I have been constantly amazed in this last 3 weeks at the support, enthusiasm and generosity to this boardwalk – thank you thank you
The greatest news! £1700 pledged already in donations to Support the Boardwalk. Karen Griffiths of Stay in The Havens contacted the the owners of the holiday cottages they manage for donations to the boardwalk and so far has received pledges of £1700 – people who miss the walk with their dog, think it’s a valuable resource list etc. Wonderful news!
The Captains room at the Galleon was packed for the second meeting of Support the Boardwalk. Thanks to Chris for hosting, Linda for chairing, and to everyone for coming. Really productive meeting last night – thanks to all and looking forward to Seeing all those ideas and plans come to fruition ;-)) Event for Saturday about to be posted – ‘The Great Renovate’ – please share, email , tell everyone you know !
A group of the boardwalk team walked the boardwalk today with Mr Thomas , the surveyor. Good news is the task at hand appears to be quite manageable – but , it was noticed that the part of the walk that isn’t closed is in dire need of some board maintenance and hedges cutback and tidy up – the benches can’t be used as the grass is so high – HCC have been informed!
Group members already working hard for the boardwalk :-)) From Linda Harrison: …found myself in regency hall Saundersfoot yest ..knowledgeable guy who said the treasurer has just gone in holiday- she raised the money. He suggested Vanessa in PAVS in haverfordwest is excellent. They had £1.4 million- £250k from planed which was euro money,£200k from welsh gob, also euro money,£500k from lottery-,had to jump thru hoops for that,£200k from PCC as long as they housed the library. Then smaller funds-
Mark burch has been to see Westcoast printers in Milford and Chloe has agreed to donate a Banner – thanks so much ! That means at Mondays meeting we need to decide on what to print on it – “save the boardwalk – donations can be made by ….??? “
HCC are proposing to maintain the section marked in blue – replacing the boards with a path. The rest of the boardwalk is to be removed and notice has been served.
Boardwalk or Bust?!Meeting May 12th 2014 Galleon Inn {upstairs room} Proving the power of Facebook, email and general ‘spreading the word’ an exceptional turnout – HUGE THANKS to the 27 people who attended the meeting . A large group of people, many of whom were able to make comment, but some of whom may have felt that they were unheard.
